General information & background

It doesn't get more classic than this Carolina Herrera wedding dress from her 2003 collection. What consistently sets a Carolina Herrera gown apart are two things: (1) the quality of the materials, and (2) the attention to detail. This dress is an excellent example of both.

The bodice of this gown is constructed from an exquisite-quality Alencon lace that was embellished by hand with seed pearls. It has a scalloped boat neckline with a high back and invisible zipper. Coretta features an elongating dropped waist and a silk gazar A-line skirt. (Gazar is a variation of organza that has more opacity, structure, and visual texture than simple organza.)

Designer background

Carolina Herrera has a long history in American bridal fashion, and is one of the only domestic designers who can claim that she has dressed more than one generation of brides. When it comes to wedding dresses, her name is practically synonymous with "classic."

Carolina Herrera had a close relationship with Jackie Kennedy, so in the mid-1980s, she was tapped to create Caroline Kennedy's iconic shamrock-adorned gown...and the rest is (bridal fashion) history. Herrera was in high demand after Caroline Kennedy's wedding, and she formally launched her bridal line shortly thereafter. She dressed countless women for their weddings until she retired her bridal line in 2024, including numerous celebrities.
