General background & information
Catherine Rayner's Cafe au Lait is a design so brilliant and striking that it earned a place in the permanent collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
This gown captures the spirit of the period known as the "Golden Age of Couture." The materials are exquisite, the construction is impeccable, and the integrated bow-slash-train is simply genius.
Crafted from structured yet lightweight, textured silk dupion (like most of Rayner's designs), and featuring a timeless column silhouette, this is a gown you couldn't possibly regret wearing.
In case you're wondering how the wearer even gets into this dress, the bow/train is attached at the back waist with a horizontal line of hooks and eyes. When the hooks are disconnected, the wearer can step inside of the circle created between the bow/train and the body of the gown. There are no zipper or button closures.
