This romantic Catherine Rayner wedding dress showcases all of the reasons that Catherine Rayner's designs resonate as strongly with brides today as they did in the 1980s and 1990s.
 
Elizabeth is constructed from Rayner's trademark silk dupion fabric, a subtly textured material that is lightweight, luxe, and airy. The skirt is densely gathered to take advantage of the best of silk dupion's qualities. It provides ample volume without being heavy. Because of this, the gown is not overwhelming even though it has long sleeves. 
 
The standout feature of this gown is the detailing along the neckline. Catherine Rayner was famous for her handmade silk rosettes. Elizabeth features an alternating pattern of silk charmeuse rosettes and small silk dupion bows. The wide-set scoop neckline is flattering and not overpowering even on petite frames, as is the Basque waist. The gown can be worn on the shoulder, as intended, or off the shoulder, in a more modern interpretation. (There is sufficient structure in the bodice that the straps and sleeves are not necessary to keep the dress up.)
