General background & information
Talia, a 1993 wedding dress from the Christian Dior Bridal Collection, has unmistakable similarities to Sophia Loren's Boathouse bridal look. The bodice has an off-shoulder neckline with long sleeves, and has a structured silk underlayer with a beaded French lace overlay. The overlay has long sleeves and narrow silk trim on the neckline. It is finished with covered buttons on the back bodice and sleeves.
Talia has a dropped Basque waistline, which is given dimension and visual interest by a pleated waistline detail. The structured silk skirt is long and dramatic, featuring wide box pleats to provide maximum volume. The gown is finished with a large, structured statement bow at the back waist. Oversized bows and rosettes were a hallmark of the Christian Dior bridal line, but they can of course be removed if you prefer a less dramatic back view.
