General background & information
The design of this vintage (possibly 1970s) Dior dress evokes Christian Dior's iconic Venezuela dresses, two versions of which are held by the Met Museum and the Museum of Decorative Arts, Paris.
Venus is a beautiful shade of rose pink. It has a draped crossover bodice, V-neck with mirrored V-shaped back, dropped waist, and wide-set straps. The bodice is finished with a line of complementary covered buttons down the back.
The skirt has two tiers, one with a bouncy bubble hem and draped detail, and the other with gathering at the waist. It falls to approximately the ankle.
Size & measurements
Measurements must be used to assess whether a gown will fit you or can be altered to fit you. The flat measurements of this vintage Dior dress are as follows:
Bust - 36"
Waist - 29"
Hips - free
Please note that the armholes are very small. While it is common for the armholes of vintage garments to be tighter than they are today, these are much tighter than usual, and they will probably need to be expanded during alterations for the wearer's comfort.
