General information & background
Jennifer is the ultimate princess wedding dress for someone seeking an incredibly romantic bridal look. This gown dates from 1989.
Jennifer is constructed from an extremely luxurious, lustrous, and structured silk fabric. The bodice features a slimming Basque waistline and sweetheart neckline. The edge of the neckline is embellished with true French corded lace, which has been further embellished by hand with pearls and beads. The quality of the beads and pearls is evident by how remarkably beautiful they are after nearly four decades, with virtually no signs of age whatsoever.
The star of the show is the voluminous puff sleeves, which are lined and stiffened to maintain their fullness. The sleeves are further embellished by hand with tiny seed pearls.
The bodice is finished in the back with a sturdy metal zipper and a row of sweet pearl buttons.
Jennifer is as gorgeous inside as it is outside. It features incredibly complex internal construction, using a technique of attaching the skirt to the bodice that I have previously only seen in vintage Christian Dior gowns. This technique allows the skirt and bodice to move independently of each other, providing beautiful movement & flow. This movement is accentuated by the dress's lack of a train.
Jennifer was purchased at Anne Barge for the Bride in Atlanta in 1989. The craftsmanship is exquisite and the materials are the absolute highest quality.
