General background & information

The combination of swishy skirt and allover sparkle makes this John Galliano mini dress the perfect wedding reception dress! The base layer of this 1920s-inspired dress is soft peach silk, which is overlaid with embroidered tulle. The embroidery has a bursting star or rising sun motif. Up close, the embroidery is very textural and dimensional because it contains several different shapes and sizes of beads and rhinestones.

The deep V neckline is enhanced with a line of beading in round and droplet shapes. The double-layered integrated tulle capelet has a line of beading down the sleeves. The integrated capelet is my favorite part of this dress; it is a nod to the beaded capelets that were common during the 1920s and 1930s, which were typically worn on top of a dress.

Size & measurements

Measurements must be used to assess whether a gown will fit you or can be altered to fit you. A dress can usually be made 2-3 sizes smaller without compromising the design, but can rarely be made more than approximately 1/2-1” larger without making major modifications. The exterior measurements of this dress are as follows:

Waist - up to 30"

Hip - up to 39"

It is tagged an Italian size 44. It fits roughly like a modern size 8.

Condition

We are known for the excellent condition of our vintage bridal attire. However, vintage gowns will always contain some imperfections that result from being worn and/or stored for decades. We make every effort to review each dress thoroughly and disclose the issues we can find. With that in mind, please review the following notes:

This dress is in excellent vintage condition overall. While there may be a loose thread or bead here or there, any such issues would be difficult to detect. It is lovely and is ready to be worn.
