The perfect bias-cut silk slip wedding dress from the famed Los Angeles-based boutique Les Habitudes! Lila is classic with a twist. The wide, softly draped neckline frames the face, while the silk charmeuse softly skims the body thanks to the use of the bias-cut technique and skillful seaming. (We especially love a bias-cut dress at Vionnette because our namesake, the legendary couturier Madeleine Vionnet, pioneered and perfected the bias-cut technique.) The seams are cleverly used here, in a way that is difficult to appreciate unless they are seen in person.

An expertly-draped cowl back hides a small panel of Alencon-style lace for a look that is sexy without being revealing.

Lila is a lovely choice for a pared-back bridal look, a rehearsal dinner gown, or second look. It's versatile and classic, and the exquisite material quality and craftsmanship make it a future heirloom.

Size & measurements

Measurements must be used to assess whether a gown will fit you or can be altered to fit you. A gown can usually be made 2-3 sizes smaller without compromising the design, but can rarely be made more than approximately 1/2-1” larger without making major modifications.

Because the gown is bias-cut, and it has significant stretch. It is tagged a size large and can accommodate a wide range of measurements. We believe it would best fit someone with measurements in the following range:

Waist - 29" to 32"

Hip - 37" to 41"

We have been asked if it can be altered to be significantly smaller, and we do not recommend that for this particular dress. We recommend that this dress be worn on a body that is a street size 6 at minimum.

Lauren, our model, is a street size 2. The dress form on which it is displayed is a street size 6-8.

Condition

We are known for the excellent condition of our vintage bridal attire. However, vintage gowns will always contain some imperfections that result from being worn and/or stored for decades. We make every effort to review each dress thoroughly and disclose the issues we can find. With that in mind, please review the following notes:

The only notable flaw in this dress is a small area of discoloration along the right armhole in the upper bust area, likely caused by contact with makeup. It is not easily visible in photos because it sits along the armscye seamline. The gown may have slight pulls here and there, but is overall in very good vintage condition.
