General information & background
 
Sourced from France, Adeline is an extremely romantic A-line wedding dress that is unmistakably vintage. The bodice is constructed from silk dupion that is embroidered with metallic gold thread in a geometric motif. At the center of each motif is a tiny pearl. The bodice has princess seams accented with piping, a sexy scoop back (unusual for a vintage wedding dress!), a Basque waistline, and 3/4-length sleeves with a subtle puff at the shoulder and covered buttons at the wrist. The back of the bodice has covered buttons and a mirrored Basque waist. 
 
Adeline has a dramatic gathered silk dupion skirt that features a pickup in the front. The pickup has an insertion of the same embroidered silk used to create the bodice, as well as an additional layer of silk dupion. 
 
Alterations note: For those who tend to run hot, it is possible to remove the sleeves and create a scoop-neck, sleeveless wedding dress. It is not an option to remove the straps themselves, as there is not sufficient support in the bodice for Adeline to be a strapless dress.
 
Additional note: Some of our images show Adeline with a mantilla veil made of Art Deco-era French metallic lace. The veil is not included with the sale.

Measurements must be used to assess whether a gown will fit you or can be altered to fit you. The exterior measurements of this vintage wedding dress are approximately:

Adeline is approximately a modern size 10-12.
 
Condition notes
 
Adeline is in very good condition. It was either not worn previously or worn for only a short time, as it has none of the typical indicators of wedding-day wear (such as underarm residue or dirt along the hem). On close inspection, there are a small number of light marks (approximately the size of a pinhead) in the skirt, but these are difficult to locate because of the texture and sheen of the fabric. There are a smaller number (perhaps 2) light marks that are slightly larger, around 1mm-2mm by 4mm.
 
Overall, the gown presents as new.
