Apollonia was an instant staff favorite! It is a dramatic strapless A-line vintage wedding dress made of silk shantung. The bodice is lightly embellished with pearls and glass beads in a motif reminiscent of jewelry. The beading is subtle and delicate, adding a bit of extra romance to the gown without being over the top. ⁠⁠
 
The position of the velvet bodice bows on the bodice is flexible, as they were a later addition to the dress. The bows can be worn at the top of the bodice points as shown, repositioned at the center of the bodice, or removed completely (but why would you want to? 😘). ⁠⁠
 
The bodice is heavily boned and has piped detailing along the seams. It is finished with a functional corset back, which allows more flexibility with sizing.⁠⁠
 
Apollonia has a true A-line skirt with subtle draping at the lower waist and a long train.⁠⁠ Note that the gown is a soft buttercream color, most accurate in the last 4 images.
 
Size & measurements
 
Measurements must be used to assess whether a gown will fit you or can be altered to fit you. A gown can usually be made 2-3 sizes smaller without compromising the design, but can rarely be made more than approximately 1/2-1” larger without making major modifications. 
 
Apollonia's measurements are difficult to accurately obtain because the back bodice is much lower than the front, and it has a functional lace-up panel. These are the closest measurements we are able to obtain:
 
Bust - 37"
Waist - 30"
Hip - free
 
It is approximately a modern size 10. However, we believe it could easily work for someone who is 1-2 sizes larger than these measurements because of the flexibility in the back of the dress. Please contact us to discuss this in more detail if that applies to you! 
 
Condition and alteration notes
 
Apollonia is in very good condition overall. We obtained Apollonia from a British bridal shop owner who closed her shop decades ago. It was a shop sample and came to us with the original tag (which we removed for cleaning). There is wear to the bodice consistent with having been tried on at a shop but not worn at a wedding, including slight discoloration along the back grommet panels, slight discoloration along the underarms, and slight wear and discoloration along the interior of the bodice. There are also a couple of pulls in the skirt. Apollonia has had no previous alterations and has not been worn by a bride.
