General background & information
 
It isn't every day that a dress elicits strong emotions from me, but this one did. Even though I have handled thousands of beautiful dresses over the course of my career, I still gasped when I pulled this from the box. It recalls Caroline McCall's exquisitely beautiful period costumes for the series Downton Abbey. Made from soft, fine silk charmeuse in a dusty rose pink, the Blaine dress is a 1980s-90s interpretation of 1920s styles, giving you the romantic Deco look without the issues that come along with wearing 1920s pieces.
 
Blaine has a soft scoop neckline with a wide collar of featherweight metallic French silk lace. The bodice has a blousy fit. It hits at the natural waist. The waistline is accented with a coordinating bias-cut silk charmeuse belt that meets at the front of the waist with two silk charmeuse rosettes. The design of this little belt is especially thoughtful because it evokes vintage fur clips. The skirt is overlaid with panels of the same metallic silk lace used for the collar, adding texture, depth, and romance to the look. 
 
Blaine falls to approximately the ankle, depending (of course) on your height. 
 
Note that Blaine is somewhat sheer, so you would probably wish to wear shapewear or a slip that coordinates with your skin tone.
