General background and information
 
Charlotte is a very full, dramatic, and unconventional vintage ball gown. It came to us with a small group of similarly beautiful dresses from a British bridal shop that closed its doors in the 1990s. Charlotte is constructed from silk shantung, a lightweight, structured, and crisp fabric that provides volume, airiness, and drama without the weight we associate with voluminous wedding dresses. The bodice has a scoop neckline with a subtle bias-cut strip detail at the shoulder, a dropped Basque waistline with empire seaming at the bust, and warm gold ribbonwork detailing along the edge of the neckline. It closes with functional gold fabric-covered buttons.
 
The skirt is heavily gathered at the waist, giving a very full silhouette. It is finished with a chapel-length train.
 
Charlotte is new with tag, and was an instant staff favorite! 
 
Sizing & measurements
 
Measurements must be used to assess whether a gown will fit you or can be altered to fit you. A gown can usually be made 2-3 sizes smaller without compromising the design, but can rarely be made more than approximately 1/2-1” larger without making major modifications. The exterior measurements of this dress are as follows:

Hip - free
 
It is approximately a modern size 6-8.
