General background & information

Corinne is every bit the classic '90s British wedding dress except for one thing: the shell pink color. (Pink and other color tones are common in contemporary bridal attire, but were much less common prior to the 2010s.)

Corinne is constructed from structured, crisp silk shantung. Silk shantung is very lightweight, which gives the dress volume without making it heavy. It has a heavily boned, structured bodice with a couture corset (a hidden, internal, fully-laced corset). Couture corsets provide the best possible fit in a wedding dress, and are one of the excellent features common in couture vintage wedding dresses that are almost never used today. The bodice has a subtle scoop neck and Basque waistline. It is finished with silk covered buttons and silk rouleau loops that extend to the waist.

Corinne's A-line skirt is heavily gathered at the back waist, which both creates a dramatic train and emphasizes the wearer's waist. The skirt is left ungathered in the front, but pleated across the sides to create a draped detail. (This is a design feature that is commonly associated with Catherine Rayner's wedding dresses, but was used by other designers during the '90s too).
