Description
This absolutely exquisite and utterly unique Regency-style gown was sourced from Spain, where it was part of the inventory of a small bridal boutique that closed long ago]. (This is one of my favorite ways to find dresses; dresses like this are the hidden gems in our collection.) Jane is made of silk dupion that has a slightly heavier weight and softer handle than dupion typically does. It is heavily gathered at the base of the bust to create the beautiful Empire waistline. The bust and cap sleeves are heavily embroidered in glass beads, sequins, and organza ribbon. The embroidery, while dense, still manages to feel delicate and ethereal. Jane is simply a standout gown, as appropriate for a garden wedding as for a formal church ceremony. It is unlike anything on the contemporary bridal market, and is perfect for someone who wants something truly unique and special.
Size & measurements
The bust measurement must be used to determine sizing in this gown because that is the only area where it is fitted to the body. The current exterior bust measurement is approximately 33". The back closes only along the bust with oversized hooks and eyes, and loops and a ribbon could be added to enlarge the bust measurement by up to 3 inches, but probably no further than that.
The amount of desired cleavage is also a factor in sizing. In the video on our social media accounts, Lauren has a 34" bust measurement; it produces significantly more cleavage when worn that way.
Condition
We are known for the excellent condition of our vintage bridal attire. However, vintage gowns will always contain some imperfections that result from being worn and/or stored for decades. We make every effort to review each dress thoroughly and disclose the issues we can find. With that in mind, please review the following notes:
Jane is in very good condition. It was used previously only for display, and it has never been worn by a bride. There is a small, light mark near the gathers at the bust measuring approximately 1 millimeter by 2 millimeters. A repair has previously been made to the lining of the hem. Jane is in beautiful condition and is ready to be worn.
