General information & background
 
There is so much to love about Marilyn, not least that the vibe is unmistakably vintage! Sourced from Italy, Marilyn is a soft A-line dress made of silk gazar. The jewel neck, short-sleeved bodice is hand-embroidered with pearls of various sizes. It is finished with a line of covered buttons down the back.
 
The skirt has deep box pleats that give Marilyn its classic tulip shape. It comes with an ivory leather belt that has an oversized statement bow at the center. (You can choose to wear the bow in the front, as shown in these photos, or in the back, which gives a more streamlined appearance.) 
 
Marilyn came to us from an Italian bridal shop that closed decades ago. It is new old stock and has never been worn.
 
Size & measurements
 
Measurements must be used to assess whether a gown will fit you or can be altered to fit you. A gown can usually be made 2-3 sizes smaller without compromising the design, but can rarely be made more than approximately 1/2-1” larger without making major modifications. The exterior measurements of this dress are as follows:
 
Bust - 38" (note: the bodice is intended to have a blousy fit, so please use the waist measurement when evaluating the size)
Waist - 28"
Hip - flexible
 
This gown is approximately a modern-day size 6.
 
Condition notes
 
We are known for the excellent condition of our vintage bridal attire. However, vintage gowns will always contain some imperfections that result from being worn and/or stored for decades. We make every effort to review each dress thoroughly and disclose every issue we can find. With that in mind, please review the following notes:
 
Marilyn is new with tags. The back side of the belt shows wear from being folded for so many years. We assume that a pearl or two have gone missing over the years, but we don't know for sure, as it would be very difficult to tell.
