General information & background
It's hard to even know what to say about this incredibly special dress. Its background is a mystery to us; it has no designer tag, yet it was clearly made by an extremely creative designer and seamstress because the use of lace trim is unlike anything we've ever seen before, and there is evidence of significant amounts of laborious hand-stitching throughout the dress.
Lines of vintage crocheted lace were used to create the bodice. At the point below the waist where the dress begins to flare out, the designer introduced godets to shape the skirt. These were accented with tulle, which was pleated and tacked by hand to create swags that extend to the end of the skirt and train.
Shaina is an incredible example of how simple materials can be used to create something truly extraordinary. While we love the luxurious silks and laces used in most of our other gowns, the ingenuity in this piece makes it stand alone. Our social media manager, Lauren, who has modeled thousands of wedding dresses in her career as a bridal model, cried when she put it on!
Shaina is named for one of our very own brides, whose sweet and romantic spirit is reflected in this one-of-a-kind gown.
*Note - If you are a bride on a quest for perfection, Shaina is not the dress for you! This gown had a few areas near the hem that required repair, and repairs to tulle are never completely invisible.
