Dorothy is a '50s-inspired archival Valentino wedding dress that would be perfect for someone seeking a timeless look reminiscent of classic bridal gowns like Audrey Hepburn's Givenchy dress in the film Funny Face. 
 
Dorothy is constructed from two different styles of point d'esprit tulle. The first is fine and soft, and the dots (points) are on the smaller side. This fabric was used to create the bodice, as the lighter weight and finer knit provides a closer and more comfortable fit. The other variety is stiffer, with much more body. This was used to create the skirt, so as to produce maximum fullness. It was an intelligent and thoughtful use of materials. 
 
Dorothy has a crossover bodice that sits at the natural waist. The draped back provides full coverage. The skirt is gathered and full, and it is the same length all the way around, which gives the gown beautiful movement. 
 
Size & measurements
 
Measurements must be used to assess whether a gown will fit you or can be altered to fit you. A gown can usually be made 2-3 sizes smaller without compromising the design, but can rarely be made more than approximately 1/2-1” larger without making major modifications. The approximate exterior measurements of this dress are as follows:
 
Bust - 35-36"
Waist - 28"
Hip - free
 
It is approximately a modern size 6-8. 
 
Important note on sizing - This Valentino wedding dress has been previously altered, and the proportions are on the petite side. Please confirm the following measurements in addition to the bust and waist measurements:
 
Top of shoulder to natural waist - 14"
Natural waist to floor - 43-44"
 
Condition
 
We are known for the excellent condition of our vintage bridal attire. However, vintage gowns will always contain some imperfections that result from being worn and/or stored for decades. We make every effort to review each dress thoroughly and disclose the issues we can find. With that in mind, please review the following notes:
 
Dorothy is in very good vintage condition. Having been worn previously, it required some repairs to the interior of the gown (the lining) upon arrival, as well as a new zipper.
