General background & information
 
This 1996 Vera Wang has a little bit of everything. Amy is sexy, flirty, modern, chic, and feminine. It is one of Vera's most iconic and instantly recognizable designs from the '90s. This gown was routinely featured in magazines during the era. (See the Town and Country cover image on one of the final slides.)
 
Constructed from satin-faced silk organza, Amy features a jewel neckline, long mesh sleeves and mesh back, bow accents, and large-diameter covered buttons. The skirt is very full and bouncy. Vera's background in competitive figure skating is clearly evident in the design of this gown, especially the high neckline and mesh long sleeves and back. 
 
This design feels as fashion-forward today as it did when it debuted in the early 1990s.
