General background & information
 
We are so excited to have this 1996 wedding dress, one of Vera Wang's most iconic and beloved designs, in the shop! 
 
Helen's bodice has a boat neckline and dropped waist. The front of the bodice is constructed from duchess silk satin, and the back is made from Vera's signature transparent mesh. This classic Vera bodice style was inspired and informed by her years as a figure skater. 
 
The skirt is made of many, many layers of airy illusion tulle. Helen's skirt makes a statement, has beautiful movement, and is a joy to wear! 
 
The gown is finished with a line of duchess silk satin bows that extend from the mid-back to the end of the train. Buttons adorn the entire length of the back of the dress, from the neckline to the very end of the train. 
 
This design was featured prominently in Vera Wang ad campaigns throughout the mid-1990s, as you can see in the final image.
 
Needless to say, we are all in love with this super special dress! 
 
Size and measurements
 
Measurements must be used to assess whether a gown will fit you or can be altered to fit you. A gown can usually be made 2-3 sizes smaller without compromising the design, but can rarely be made more than approximately 1/2" - 1” larger without making major modifications.
 
Helen is approximately a modern size 4.
