General background and information
Call it the Parent Trap dress, call it iconic, call it whatever you like -- this '90s Vera Wang is arguably Vera's most well known and most loved style among today's brides (a title it holds alongside the Estee Lauder Beautiful dress).
Kristie's mock neck and mesh neckline are a nod to Vera's long career as a competitive figure skater before she entered the world of fashion. The gown is constructed from satin-faced silk organza, a structured fabric that has a great deal of bounce and movement. The movement is enhanced when, as here, the dress does not have a train. This allows it to skim the floor and gives it "swishiness" that makes it a joy to wear. And it looks lovely when dancing! The skirt has subtle box pleats to give it extra fullness and movement.
Kristie's dropped-waist bodice has princess seams for a close fit. The mock neckline and the armholes are trimmed with bias-cut satin-faced silk organza. Vera's signature bows appear at intervals along the back of the gown, starting at the neckline. The bodice has a full mesh back with a functional covered button closure.
Kristie is an icon that is meant to be worn by an icon!
