General background & information
Vera Wang Monica dates from one of Vera's 1998 wedding dress collections. It is constructed from Vera's trademark duchess silk satin in a warm ivory tone. Monica has a scoop neck and long, thin halter straps. (However, the straps are not functional, merely decorative; there is enough support in the bodice for you to do without them if you prefer a strapless wedding dress instead of a halter.)
The bodice is densely embellished with glass beads, heart-shaped sequins, and rhinestones. It was beaded entirely by hand in a process that would have required many, many hours of skilled labor. The embellishment graduates in density from the top of the bodice to the waist, and the skirt is left unadorned. The beading extends to the back of the bodice.
Monica features an S-shaped waistline, which dips in the front and back, but rises to the natural waist at the side seams. The skirt is an A-line shape, with subtle box pleats at the side front, and generous pleating along the back waist.
